What next?
If you have read every page thus far then congratulations. If you read the first few and then decided to skip to the end then shame on you. Either way, I am afraid I am going to have to keep you in suspense for a little bit longer!
The robot shell is very close to being completed as I write this. It will then be shipped from my workshop in Sweden to
bit-tech HQ in England for the system installation and studio photography. The guys have promised some really sweet eye candy shots.
If you are wondering what is coming for Part 2 of this article, I can give you some tips. Following the fibreglass stage the whole body was covered in Bondo, sanded back and detailed to match the 3D Studio model. There is some aluminium armour plating and a head-to-toe battle-worn airbrushed paint job.
Plus I still have one or two tricks up my sleeve...
Just a few more things before I head back to the workshop. Firstly, a reminder that you have just four more days to
submit your entry to win this mod. I am told that several people have already been disqualified for attempting to submit multiple entries so please play by the rules and just send one entry per person.
Secondly, I would like to thank THQ for this opportunity and especially the team at Gas Powered Games for their support. It is rare that outsiders gain access to things like the original 3D Studio models but, without them, this project would not have been possible.
Thanks to the team at
bit-tech also for the help and support for this project and my other work. You guys rock!
Finally, at the risk of sounding like a bad Oscar acceptance speech, I want to give my sponsors another Thank You. Without exception, they all make kick-ass hardware which I would happily recommend to everyone.
Keep an eye on
bit-tech for Part 2 -- it's coming to a browser near you very soon.
